WHY WE EXIST

We’re here to help people Know God, Find Freedom, Discover Purpose, and Make a Difference.

Whether you’re new to church, have been a Christian for many years, or are looking for a fresh start, you’re welcome here. Our hope is to give you a place where you experience a fresh, enjoyable connection to God and a community of people.

We keep our focus simple so we can have the biggest impact possible. Everything we do as a church is filtered through our focus on helping every person live the full life for which God created all of us.

LEADERSHIP

Lead Pastor

Pastor Tom Downs has had the pleasure of serving as Gilead’s Lead Pastor since 1986. Pastor Tom earned his B.S. from Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri and his M.A. from University of Detroit. His hobbies include scuba diving, golf, exercise and travel. His biggest passion, however, is teaching God’s Word. He has been married to Cindy (his best friend and co-laborer) since 1986. They have two daughters, Christina and Rachel (both daughters graduated from Liberty University with nursing degrees). Christina and Rachel are married to godly men who serve on staff at Gilead. Pastor Tom believes leaving a godly heritage and legacy will be his greatest achievement.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What time are your services?

SUNDAY:

Worship Service – 10:30am

FIRST WEDNESDAY:

Join us on the first Wednesday of every month at 7pm for a night of worship, prayer, an inspirational message and communion.

How early should I arrive?

For a typical service, please arrive 20 minutes before the service start time. This will allow you time to find a parking spot, grab a cup of coffee, check your kids in to our children’s programs and find a seat!

What should I wear?

At Gilead, you can come as you are! All clothing styles (with modesty in mind) are welcome.

What do you have for my kids?

We offer excellent children’s programs with age-appropriate fun and games, singing, and teaching that will help them grow in their love for Jesus. Our departments are led by teams that undergo background checks and regular training to ensure a safe and secure environment at all times.

Where do I go if I have questions?

Someone is standing by at our Welcome Center in the church lobby during every service ready to answer your questions. You can also talk with Pastor Tom or any of the other staff members and we would be glad to help! You can also contact the office at (734) 287-2650 and email us at: office@gileadchurch.com
