Introduction – Christ brings a ‘graveyard dead’ Lazarus to life proving again that Jesus is God.

• Knew His power, doubted His timing
• Trust His will, power and timing – John 13:7

• Pain, sorrow, death – anticipation
• We are to roll away the stone
• Martha only saw the problem – corpse

III. The focus – vv. 40

• Not the corpse made alive
• See God’s Son glorified
• God’s glory: revelation of His attributes: goodness, grace, mercy, love, judgment, justice and wrath – John 1:14; Hebrews 1:3
• He is more than a solution to our problems – 2 Corinthians 3:18

Conclusion – His part is to give life to the dead: our part is to remove stones and unwrap the trapped.

The Waiting Game

Introduction- Having faith and trusting God is difficult when your heart has been crushed by circumstance.

I. The setting – vv. 1-16

• Bethany: Mary, Martha and Lazarus
• Reason – for glory…How?
  • Confirms Christ’s deity?
  • Strengthens disciples faith
  • Leads to the cross
• The need – sickness – no instructions
• The delay – based on love – Isaiah 30:18
• Worried disciples – He set the boundaries of life
• Die to self – live for Christ

II. The arrival – vv. 17-32

• Jesus came to deal with death – John 10:10
• The power to raise the last day for the fourth day?
• Salvation is a person not an event
• Faith – physical, spiritual and invitation
• Leap into His arms believing
• Worship and love

III. His Love – vv. 33-36

• Groan over sins consequences: death, pain and sorrow
• He wept – sympathetic – felt it all
• They witnessed His Love

Conclusion: Run to Jesus daily with our troubles; no one loves us like Him.
